WANT TO LEARN TO PLAY THE SAXOPHONE OR IMPROVE YOUR IMPROVISING SKILLS?
I am now giving Saxophone lessons from my home in Southport, or via Skype.
Lessons cover all styles and musical preferences (with or without the use of written musical notation), tailored to your particular needs and likes.
(If you’re looking to just play bluesy / funky / jazzy chops in a band – I can help get you ready to impress at an audition!)
Lessons are just £30 a session, and for that you get a full 60 minutes tuition time, so time enough to get warmed up, into the flow, and leave with a real sense of achievement.
I have a good reputation as a sax tutor, with many satisfied students.
I am also the resident sax teacher at LIPA (Liverpool Institute For Performing Arts)

Private one to one sax tuition with Bob Whittaker – all styles/ levels – repairs sales advice
Hi! I’m Liverpool based saxophonist Bob Whittaker and have over 30 years experience in playing, teaching, selling and repairing saxophones in the Merseyside area. Whether you’re an absolute beginner, a returning player or want some specific technique improvements etc. I can help!
Saxophone lessons are one to one and taught from my teaching studio within Curly Music School (1st floor of Curly Music Shop, Liverpool City Centre).
I can help you with all aspects of playing, give advice on choosing a saxophone or mouthpiece and so on and also service and repair your instrument should anything go wrong – everything under one roof!
Welcome to Wirral Saxophone Lessons!
I offer “trial” lessons during which you can come along for a “taster” lesson, designed for those without their own instrument who are interested in taking up the Saxophone. You are welcome to have a lesson with me using one of my saxophones.
Take the plunge!
My name is Dave Gilbertson. I teach Saxophone lessons for all ages, in all styles of playing at all levels of playing offering exam studies from the new ABRSM Jazz Grades curriculum.
I mainly teach within the jazz, soul, blues, pop, rock idiom but that doesn’t mean there are no classical studies, there are, they’re also great to play and learn from.
Along with African and Latin derived or influenced music I feel it’s important to at least appreciate how these various types of music are derived.
We look at and learn song form from various music sources but for those who want to concentrate on for example the blues, well that’s fine also.
The lessons are designed to be fun whilst increasing the knowledge base from lesson to lesson, so we concentrate on making you a musician from lesson #1 where we aim to be playing music straight away.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
How to produce a GREAT saxophone sound
How to read music
How to develop “playing by ear”
Music theory (comprised of scales,arpeggios,chords,harmony)
Technique (in the form of scale, arpeggio and music studies / etudes)
I aim to provide the student with all the tools in order to perform music competently, confidently and with some degree of finesse and more importantly to learn to teach themselves play music, based on a few simple principles.
